Guided visit to the Sistine Chapel and to the Vatican Museums, a precious collection that is a witness to the ancient civilizations and masterpieces of art from every period.
Programme
The guided visit starts at the Piazza della Repubblica, in the centre of which rises the Fountain of the Naiads, continuing on through the ancient Aurelian Wall and the famous park of the Villa Borghese. The park extends for around 80 hectares and has 9 entrances, among which the monumental entrance of the large Flaminius Square, from where we can see the Piazza del Popolo, the ancient northern entrance to the capital. The square is dominated by the Flaminius Obelisk, carried out during the eras of the Pharaohs Ramses II and Merenptah (XIII century B.C.), brought to Rome by Augustus in the I century A.D.
Then we continue skirting the walls of the Vatican to reach the entrance of the Vatican Museums.
With the guide we go up the beautiful spiral staircase, the Tapestry Gallery, the Geographic Map Gallery, to finally reach the famous Sistine Chapel, with the stupendous frescoes by Michelangelo Buonarroti: the story of Genesis and the Last Judgement. The walls are decorated with frescos by Pinturicchio, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Luca Signorelli.
When the visit finishes, return to the hotel.
