The frescos of the Sistine Chapel, the masterpieces of the Vatican Museums and the St. Peter's Basilica: a guided visit through the excellent spiritual, cultural and artistic places of Rome.
Programme
The guided visit starts from the Piazza dell'Esquilino and goes to the Pincio Gate, through the Aurelian Wall and the Villa Borghese Park to arrive at the Vatican Museums, the largest collection of art in Europe with more than 65,000 masterpieces.
We visit:
- The Candelabra Gallery, with Roman statues and candelabras from the II century A.D.;
- The Tapestry Gallery, with Flemish works dating back to the XVI and XVII centuries;
- The Geographic Map Gallery, whose walls are frescoed with 40 maps that represent the possessions of the Church in the XVI century, the period in which they were painted;
- The Sistine Chapel, the absolute masterpiece of the Italian, with frescos by Michelangelo Buonarroti (The Last Judgement and the story of Genesis) and by Botticelli, Perugino, Pinturicchio, Ghirlandaio and Signorelli.
- The Bernini staircase.
The tour will conclude with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, perhaps the biggest Church in the world, to admire, among other things, the Pietà of Michelangelo.
Note
There is no return service to the hotel, but there are stops in Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza della Repubblica, the Appian Line bus terminal. During the high season there could occasionally be queues for the entrance to the Museums. Included in the tour: a guide, transport, earphones and entrance fees.
